Where can I verify the person treating me?
Get the health assessor’s name in full, together with their job title. Then use the board for that title. A business name is not the person’s licence.
Checking doctors with an MD or DO title
MD means medical doctor. DO is another doctor title. Arizona has a separate licensing board for each of these doctor titles.
- In the October 3, 2026 records, the Arizona Medical Board’s Doctor Search links to MD licence details and board orders. Board orders are formal decisions about a doctor’s licence or conduct.
- Find your DO is the search to use at Arizona’s separate board for doctors whose title is DO.
- Match the full name. Check the licence’s current status and any limits imposed by the board.
Nurse practitioners and physician assistants
Nurse practitioners are nurses with further training for assessing and treating a patient group. A physician assistant, or PA, provides medical care within their training. A PA’s permission to prescribe and need for a supervising doctor depend on Arizona rules. Nurse practitioners and PAs have different licensing boards.
- Check both the nurse licence and the advanced-practice certificate, the extra record for a nurse’s further care training. For a nurse practitioner, check which patients the certificate covers and whether the board has granted permission to prescribe.
- The Physician Assistants Board offers PA Search and licence verification.
- A title alone does not establish permission to prescribe a particular medicine.
Read a clean-looking record carefully
Arizona restricts which licensing records can be seen online, as recorded October 6, 2026. Older decisions and some complaints may be missing from the website. A blank list therefore cannot tell you the person’s whole history.
- Ask the board what older public records are available if you need more detail.
- A blank list of board decisions tells you little about the quality of the person’s care.
- For someone offering online care from another state, ask the Arizona board how to check their permission to treat you.
